  Can you tell us about your journey and decision to pursue film and photography in college? I have been interested in pursuing film from a young age. I am incredibly passionate about theatre, drama and literature and all those interests culminated in an affinity for film. I chose to pursue it at college level because much as one can do it without necessarily having studied at college level, having a degree from a renowned university will set you apart from others in this very competitive industry.   Can you share a little bit about your background and the challenges you faced during your three-year gap year after high school? My name is Purity Wanjiku, and I took three gap years due to financial difficulties and COVID-19. I come from a humble background, and being a part of AFEX was a huge privilege for me. What motivated you to pursue your dreams of attending a renowned liberal arts college despite the obstacles you encountered during your gap years? I wanted to study in an environment where I could have one-on-one interaction with lecturers who knew me and could push me to be the best version of myself. One of the key elements to a successful application is your extracurricular activities . It is a requirement for most university applications, particularly those in the US and Canada. For instance, on Common App is a section dedicated to your list of activities.  Extracurricular activities include sports, school clubs, volunteer and community engagements, work experience, and so forth.    The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized test developed to evaluate the written, verbal, and mathematical skills of candidates. It is administered by the College Board and is widely used by universities, particularly those in the US, to make admission decisions. Previously, the SAT was a hand-written exam. However, the College Board has recently introduced a new digital version. The digital SAT is administered on a computer and aims to provide a more convenient and flexible testing experience to students. It also offers enhanced security and scoring accuracy.
